Macalester installed a 10-kilowatt wind turbine on campus in 2003, one of the few urban wind turbines in the United States. Despite its small size, it provides an important opportunity to study urban renewable energy applications. The turbine and tower were donated by Xcel energy; the installation was a gift from the Class of 2003.
