When parked in the 520 Lone Pine Road lot, turn right at the top of the stairs and enter Hoey Hall via the first door on the left. Follow the corridor, passing through the South Lobby and corridor to the Map Room. The library is located to the right of the staircase in the Map Room.

When parked in the 550 Lone Pine Road lot, walk up the driveway between the Performing Arts Center and the Keppel Gymnasium, passing through the portico. Cross the square diagonally and proceed up the stairs. Use the second door on the right. Once inside the building, turn left and then right into the Map Room. The library is located to the right of the staircase in the Map Room.

A wild-haired human head representing knowledge is carved in wood above one of two outside entrances to the library, a fitting symbol for a place that so often hosts wild-haired students in search of knowledge and resources. The other outside entrance sits beneath a carving of an open book, further indication of the hard work and intellectual curiosity the library inspires. Outfitted with several computer workstations and study carrels, students use the library to conduct research, draft papers, finish homework, and read. Current periodicals and several newspapers also make the library a popular gathering place for those who want to catch up on world events or local news. The media room provides space for students to spread out for group study and is private enough for tutoring sessions.

Nestled at the back of the library, beyond the media room, is one of the most stately spaces at Cranbrook, the Library Reading Room. With a fireplace, cozy inglenooks for readers, a wide bay window that opens to the quadrangle, and bookshelves that line the walls from floor to ceiling, the Reading Room is one of those environments that inspires deep learning and provides the tools for it. The stunning sculpted chimneypiece, designed in 1928 by Geza Maroti, features several mottoes and quotations, along with representations of the history of man as it was conceived in the 1920s.
