Named for former Cranbrook teacher James C. Gordon, the Gordon Hall of Science (commonly known as the Gordon Science Building) is the busy home of science and computer classes. The main hall of the long rectangular building is oriented to a southern exposure, admitting light through a glass curtain wall and clerestory. This light makes the benches along one side of the hallway great places for students to study between classes or settle in with a book to enjoy some sun, even in the dead of winter. State-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms open two abreast off the corridor. In one wing of the building are computing centers which serve as classrooms during the school day and are also available to students after school.
Parking is available at 550 Lone Pine Road. Proceed up the driveway to the left of the Performing Arts Center. Once through the portico, follow the sidewalk straight ahead to the east entrance of the Gordon Science Building. During school hours, visitors should first check in with the Dean's office in Hoey Hall.
