The Rose Lobby is accessible via the entrance at the east end of the circle drive in front of the building, or via the long hall that extends from the left side of the Green Lobby.
During school hours, visitors must first check in at the Dean's office; from the door under the portico, the office is on the left side of the Green Lobby.
Kingswood transitions from an academic and arts building to a residential hall in the Rose Lobby. Located at the far end of the Kingswood Oval, the Rose Lobby is illuminated by a two-story bank of geometrically-designed leaded glass windows and decorated with panels bearing the names of 30 years’ worth of Kingswood alumnae. To the left and right of the lobby are the dining hall and auditorium, the doors of which can be thrown open to create a large, integrated space.
The Rose Lobby is also the lobby to the girls’ dormitories, accessible through locked and monitored doors located at the top and bottom of small staircases just past the dining hall and auditorium. Only residents are allowed through these locked doors, accompanied by guests who strictly conform to the rules and hours of visitation.
Because of student performances, meals, meetings, and the robust residence life schedule, the Rose Lobby is an important meeting area, always full of students, parents, and faculty. Just below the lobby is an exhibition space often used for faculty art shows, and just above is the Upper Dining Hall, which opens to look down on the Rose Lobby and its tremendous windows.
