        Description

The Prospect Street Raised Crosswalk Project is an important infrastructure improvement that supports Georgetown University's ongoing commitment to accessibility, pedestrian safety, and campus-wide ADA enhancements. The project will construct a raised crosswalk along Prospect Street, behind Village A, creating a safer and more accessible connection for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Redgate and Georgetown University's Capital Projects team are leading the planning, coordination, and implementation efforts for this initiative. Fort Myer Construction and Whiting-Turner have been selected as key project partners and are currently advancing construction procurement activities in preparation for the start of work.

Project coordination is underway with the Office of Traffic Management (OTM) to finalize traffic control measures and maintain safe vehicular and pedestrian circulation during construction. To minimize disruption while allowing work to proceed efficiently, traffic operations will be modified so that one lane of Prospect Street remains open throughout the construction period. These traffic impacts will primarily affect the section of roadway located behind Village A. Upon completion, the raised crosswalk will improve ADA accessibility, enhance pedestrian visibility, help calm vehicular traffic, and strengthen the overall campus circulation network.

This investment reflects Georgetown University's broader initiative to provide a more inclusive and accessible campus environment while improving safety for all users. Redgate, Capital Projects, Fort Myer Construction, Whiting-Turner, and OTM will continue to collaborate closely throughout procurement and construction to ensure successful delivery of the project with minimal disruption to campus operations. The project represents another significant step in advancing Georgetown University's accessibility goals and long-term campus improvement strategy.
