Commissioned by DeWitt and Lila Wallace for the Reader’s Digest office in Tokyo, this totemic sculpture was gifted to Macalester College in 1965 for the new Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center. Originally sited in a fountain, its current configuration makes reference to Japanese gardens, which inspired much of Noguchi’s work.
