        Department of Communication Studies
        Communication Studies students are skilled speakers, researchers, writers, problem-solvers, and leaders.

        They create, transmit, and analyze the messages that shape our personal, professional, and public lives.

        Department of Modern Languages

        The Department of Modern Languages helps prepare Texas State University students for careers in education, international relations and business, and foreign service, as well as other professions. We offer majors and minors in 

        SpanishFrench and German, a minor in Japanese. We offer a comprehensive master's program in Spanish with courses in literature, linguistics, language, culture and film. In addition, through Extension Studies, the department offers courses in ArabicChineseItalian, and American Sign Language.
        Xiphophorus Genetic Stock Center
        The Xiphophorus Genetic Stock Center has operated within the United States since the 1930's making it one of the oldest live animal resource centers worldwide. In 1992, due to the retirement of its past director Dr. Klaus Kallman, the XGSC moved to Texas State University.
