Coach Pickert’s gargoyle overlooks Akin Common from the east side. Robert Pickert retired in June 2011 after 45 years of service. Portrayed in his signature Ocean Pacific corduroy green shorts known to generations of Hackley football players and fans, and with the lucky penny he carried for each game at his waist.
