    1. Swenson Hall of Geosciences

The departments of geography and geology are located in Swenson Hall of Geosciences.

The hall has a geographic information system (GIS) lab for students and faculty to use. In the lower levels are a paleontology prep lab and an experimental petrology lab. These facilities are used to prepare fossils ranging from dinosaurs to invertebrates and investigate the geochemistry of volcanic rocks, respectively.

It's also the home of the Fryxell Geology Museum.

Formerly the New Science Building, the remodeled Swenson Hall of Geosciences opened in 1968 and was renovated in 2001. It is named after Carl E. Swenson of Rockford in honor of his bequest to Augustana.
