    1. Buzbee Leadership Learning Center

      Tony Buzbee '90 grew up with modest means as the son of a meat cutter and high school cafeteria worker in Queen City, Texas. By earning NROTC and Sul Ross scholarships, Buzbee was able to attend Texas A&M University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. While at A&M, Buzbee served as 7th Battalion Commander in the Corps of Cadets. Upon graduation, Buzbee was named a Distinguished Naval Graduate, Distinguished Student, and was recognized as the Outstanding NROTC Senior in the Corps of Cadets, as well as the Outstanding Battalion Commander in the Corps of Cadets.


      After graduating from Texas A&M in 1990, Buzbee was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. At the Marine Corps Basic School, Buzbee was recognized as an Honor Graduate, receiving the top leadership score out of more than 200 other Lieutenants. During his Marine Corps service, Buzbee commanded various infantry platoons as part of the First Battalion, Fourth Marines, and also served as Commanding Officer, Recon Company, First Marine Regiment. Buzbee received various awards, including leadership awards from the Navy Dive School and the Amphibious Reconnaissance Course. Buzbee earned the rank of Captain, and for his service was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal.


      After leaving the Marine Corps, Buzbee entered law school at the University of Houston Law Center. While there, Buzbee was the Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review, was elected Class Captain by his peers, and was also a member of the Order of the Coif, Order of the Barristers, and Order of the Barons. Buzbee was also state and regional mock trial champion, and was voted best advocate in every competition in which he competed. Buzbee ultimately graduated Summa Cum Laude, second in his class.


      Tony Buzbee is nationally recognized as one of the most successful trial lawyers in the country.


      Aside from his legal practice, Buzbee is heavily involved in his community as a property developer. Buzbee is responsible for various well-known retail endeavors, commercial buildings, and hotels. Buzbee also serves on the Board of Directors of Hometown Bank, the Board of Directors for The Jesse Tree, the Board of Directors for the Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and has served on the Board of Visitors of Texas A&M Galveston.
