Statue of Col. Charles Goodnight
Col. Charles Goodnight, a trailblazer, cowman and plainsman, 1836-1929. Known as the creator of the chuck wagon, Goodnight wanted an efficient way to feed cowboys with a mobile kitchen while completing cattle operations near Palo Duro Canyon. Goodnight is referred to as the Father of the Texas Panhandle.
