    1. Ellen Clark Revelle House

      Location: 950 N. Amherst Ave.

Designed by architect Gordon Kaufinann and built in 1939, this building was formerly known as the President's house. The College then purchased a new residence off campus and designated this facility Revelle House in honor of longtime trustee and graduate of Scripps' first graduating class Ellen Clark Revelle '31, niece of the founder, Ellen Browning Scripps. To the east and north of the house are extensive gardens, used for more than 60 years for entertaining students, faculty, and friends of the College. The structure was converted to residential housing in 2018 to accommodate the growing student population.
