Skidmore received the Best Campus Sustainability Case Study Award in 2012 from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) for our innovative district geothermal system. The district approach allows Skidmore to heat and cool more buildings with fewer wells, and allows buildings to exchange heat, making this already efficient system even more sustainable.
