    1. Northdale Science Research Building (NC)

      The Northdale Science Research Building is home to the Movement Disorders Research and Rehabilitation Centre and the Centre for Physically Active Communities. 

       

      Additionally, the space serves as research locations for faculty members from the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education as well as the Department of Psychology. 

       

      Current studies include the following research interests:

       

      1. Working towards understanding how exercise affects appetite and energy balance (the difference between energy intake and energy expenditures.  The focus is on the potential for exercise intensity to improve energy balances through alternations in appetite regulation and post-exercise metabolism.       2. Our team works with large datasets to improve the health and well-being of older adults and their families. Our primary goal is to harness existing electronic information to create decision-support tools for front-line providers and healthcare managers. (Dr. Dawn Guthrie).
      3. Engaging in group activities is a prevalent, preferred, and effective means through which an active lifestyle can be obtained. The Group Dynamics and Physical Activity Laboratory (NC120) focuses on issues related to the membership, structure, processes, and performance of sport and exercise groups.
