    1. Dr. Alvin Woods Building (DAWB)

The Dr. Alvin Woods Building (DAWB) is home to the Faculty of Arts and Arts Academic Advising. This building underwent a complete renovation and is now up to date with more multimedia classrooms and study spaces.

DAWB holds lectures as well as tutorials, which are classes outside of lecture where a smaller group of students and a teacher's assistant can discuss and analyze what is being taught in lecture. This allows for a smaller community atmosphere, and promotes understanding and involvement of every student.

In September 2012 we unveiled our first Active Learning Classroom in the Dr. Alvin Woods Building. The design for this project was to create a student-centred learning environment that would encourage and facilitate more active and collaborative teaching approaches. This classroom was renovated from a 56-seat lecture space to round tables with advanced technologies that allow students to collaborate and share their work with their tables and/or the entire class.

The Arts Faculty makes DAWB its home, with Arts students from many departments taking courses in this building, including: Ancient Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology & Heritage Studies, Cultural Studies, English, Environmental Studies, Film Studies, Geography, Global Studies, History, Languages, Medieval Studies, North American Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion & Culture, Sociology, and Women & Gender Studies
