      1. C Hill

C Hill, a whitewashed 80-foot-tall concrete letter on the face of a large hill south of the southwest corner of campus has been an identifying symbol since 1924. In the early years of the institution, pledges were required to paint it with toothbrushes, a practice which gave way to roller brushes in the 1980s.
