        College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture

        The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) prepares you to solve problems, meet design challenges, and create the future.

      2. Hursey Center

        Hursey Center The University of Hartford's Francis  X. and Nancy Hursey Center for Advanced Engineering and Health Professions will be opening in fall 2021. The 60,000-square-foot academic building, situated at the center of campus, houses new, specialized, and technology-rich facilities for UHart's growing programs in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture; and the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions. This interdisciplinary facility offers new and unique opportunities for collaboration and innovation between the health and engineering disciplines—meeting the demand for highly skilled professionals right here in Connecticut, across the country, and around the world.
      3. Robotics Laboratory

        Robotics and Automation
        Systems Laboratory

        The Robotics and Automation Systems Laboratory is one of two robotics labs on campus. This one, in particular, houses CETA’s industrial robot Baxter (also known as CETA-Robo) that plays a key role in the engineering curriculum for those studying robotics. Both undergraduate and graduate students use Baxter for individual research and in class training on robot programming.

      4. Makerspace

        Makerspace

        University of Hartford’s Makerspace is the ideal location for CETA students to work on their next project. This area is filled with tools, 3D printers, scanners, CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machines, and soon-to-be installed lockers for students to create and store their prototypes. There is a designated area for students to also use power tools that will require safety goggles, whereas the rest of the room will be an open collaboration area to allow students to work with light tools and rolling whiteboards.

        The Pratt & Whitney Aerospace and Turbomachinery Laboratory

        The Pratt & Whitney Aerospace and Turbomachinery Laboratory includes three wind tunnels for testing speed, movement and airflow.

        United Technologies Hall is part of our Integrated Science, Engineering, and Technology complex. This building is home to College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture classrooms, labs, and faculty offices.

      7. Recording Suite

        Samuel I. Ward Audio
        Recording Suite

        The Samuel I. Ward Audio Recording Suites are where students can develop skills working with audio equipment. Students have a hands-on learning experience to grow these skills using industry-style sound boards, talent studios and mixing rooms. Students not only use tools to create professional music productions, but also learn how to pull these tools apart to learn how to maintain, repair, and design them in the field.

        Samuel I. Ward Laboratories Circuit, Electronics, and Digital Laboratory II

        The Samuel I. Ward Laboratories Circuit, Electronics, and Digital Laboratory II is one of the most collaborative spaces utilized by many students in CETA, including those majoring in computer engineering, electrical engineering, and computer and electronic engineering technology. This lab is just one of many spaces where students can practice their hands-on learning and apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems. Students can practice skills in various engineering and technology areas, including but not limited to analog and digital circuits, electronics, digital computing, microprocessors, sensors and instrumentation, electrical power, telecommunications, photonics, control systems, wireless communications, and signal processing, as well as fundamental computer systems and network systems.

      9. Acoustics Laboratory

        Acoustics Laboratory

        University of Hartford’s Acoustics Laboratory offers students a unique experience to test acoustics and vibrations that translate to a variety of real-world acoustic design and research problems for industry, foundations, and the community. The location also includes the Paul S. Veneklasen Research Foundation (P.S.V.R.F.) Anechoic Chamber (dedicated October 2010), and a Reverberation Room (dedicated May 2014) where students can also work on real-life acoustics application projects coordinated with sponsors from across the country.

      10. Harry Jack Gray Center (HJG)

        Harry Jack Gray Center

        The Harry Jack Gray Center is located at the center of campus by the flagpoles, and is home to Harrison Libraries, where you can take a break from studying and enjoy a hot drink at the always popular Starbucks at Goodwin Café. The Center also houses the University of Hartford Conference Center, Wilde Auditorium, the Joseloff Gallery, the Campus Store, studios for art, radio, and television, the School of Communication, space for the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture's architecture programs, and the 1877 Club, which offers space for special events and monthly community luncheons.

      11. Architecture Studio

        Harry Jack Gray Center

        Architecture Design Studios
        and Laboratory

        If you’re an architectural design + technology major, you’ll be spending much of your time in the Harry Jack Gray Center. Adjacent to our library, campus store, and Joseloff Gallery, these studios and labs allow students to immerse themselves into our exciting architecture studio space, including our north studios used by graduate students and the south studios used by undergraduate students. Within the studio space, you will also find our popular computer lab used by architecture students featuring standard black and white printers, large format color plotters, and a large format scanner; a woodshop featuring basic woodshop tools and equipment, as well as basic architectural model- making tools and equipment; and a digital fabrication lab, featuring the latest technology for laser cutting and 3D printing.
