A number of the classroom spaces are outfitted for Hy-Flex courses, which combine the virtual environment with in-person instruction. Hy-Flex Classrooms have 2 cameras, one placed in the front of the room to view your classmates and the other facing the board and professor, as well as 4 omnidirectional microphones. These courses can be attended in person or online during the assigned class time. The microphones from the ceiling allow for the instructor and classmates to be able to be heard, and the cameras are adjustable by the professor to highlight the important aspects of the class.

    4. Hawk Pantry

The Hawk Pantry is a weekly opportunity for students experiencing food insecurity to receive safely stored canned and packaged food items at no cost, at on-campus locations at the La Plata, Leonardtown, and Prince Frederick campuses. Any current CSM student or employee in need can come to any of our Hawk Pantry locations and receive up to 30 pounds of food per week, with complete confidentiality.

The Hawk Pantry was established in partnership with the Maryland Food Bank.

    5. Wellness and Aquatics Center (Building D)

Thanks to an agreement with St. Mary's County Parks and Recreation, the county now administers the Leonardtown Campus Wellness and Aquatics Center. Empowering Students to Achieve, or ESTA, is a support group for students with disabilities that is designed to assist them with the transition to college. Resources and strategies are provided to assist students with the transition process, as well as the goal to develop skills to meet the academic, personal, and social needs of college.

    13. Public Safety Office

Each campus has emergency call boxes illuminated with a blue light located in our parking lots, as well as emergency phones located in every building of every campus. Both place the caller in contact with a Public Safety officer who can contact 911 in the event of an emergency.

We also offer CSM.TXT, which is CSM's alert service. This service sends you instant alerts and time-sensitive messages, including up-to-date information on emergencies and campus closings. Messages can be sent to your cell phone via text.

The CSM Safe app puts emergency and public safety information at your fingertips. Call 911, contact public safety, locate the nearest emergency call box, report an incident, and much more—straight from the app!

    14. Veterans Affairs

CSM is proud to serve those who've served. Our Veterans Affairs team can guide veteran and military-connected students through the college experience, from readjustment to civilian life to getting the most out of the benefits they've earned.
    15. Financial Aid Office

CSM students have access to an abundance of scholarships, grants, and other financial aid opportunities to keep their education affordable, and the college's Financial Aid Office accompanies students in navigating the sometimes complex world of financial aid.

The CSM Foundation awards more than $600,000 in scholarships each year.

CSM's Scholarship Finder lets students apply for more than 200 CSM scholarships with one application.

CSM students can save tens of thousands of dollars on a bachelor's degree program by starting at CSM. Students who transfer to Maryland public four-year schools save an average of $29,000 on their bachelor's degree by completing their first two years at CSM and transferring with an associate degree.

The college's Financial Aid office also hosts workshops to help students fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, which gives students access to both federal and state financial aid opportunities like the Maryland Community College Promise and Maryland Near-Completers scholarship programs.

    16. Advising, Career, and Transfer Services:

CSM's academic advisors are here to help make your academic journey a positive experience—your traveling companions on the path to reaching your educational and career goals. We provide close, personalized attention to help you map out your course of study, navigate the options available to you, and overcome the challenges you face. Whether selecting a program of study, getting ready to transfer to another institution, or preparing for your professional career, it's easy and convenient to meet with an academic advisor.

Advisors and Transfer Services also guide students on preparing to transfer to a four-year college or university and accompany them through all the steps of the transfer process: what to expect before, during and after transferring; pre-transfer programs; connecting with representatives of possible transfer schools; and navigating the more than 300 transfer and articulation agreements that provide CSM students with guaranteed admission to more than 70 four-year institutions nationwide!

Career Services connects students with valuable tools and resources to help them pursue an exciting and fulfilling career. Students can explore options, prepare for interviews, have resumes and cover letters reviewed by experts, and more! CSM's Career Closet supports students in dressing for success by giving them clothes to wear for various formal and professional occasions.
