At the east end of the Malott Commons is Seal Court, which features mosaic murals around the pond created by various students since the 1940s. The seals were originally designed by Lawrence Tenney Stevens, modeled in clay by Jean McBurney, and fired by William Manker, Scripps ceramics professor (1935-47). In 1990, Paul Soldner, Scripps ceramics professor (1957-91), recast the seals in bronze.
