    1. Composting Location - Marketplace at the Residential Colleges

Pre-consumer food waste from the Marketplace at the Residential Colleges is composted by the Office of Sustainability Composting Program. Since its creation in 2013, the program has composted nearly 36,000 pounds of food waste that would otherwise have ended up in a landfill. The finished compost will be distributed to campus gardens and sold to community gardeners as a nutrient-rich soil amendment. The project, funded by the UM Green Fund, employs five students each semester and also composts food waste from Rebel Market, the Grill at 1810, Freshii and Ole Miss Catering.
