The Desert Garden was one of the earliest projects of the Arboretum. Notable plants are South African Euphorbia ‘Sticks on Fire’ and cactus prevalent in Mexico such as cholla, pipe organ (Pachycereus marginatus), beavertail (Opuntia ficus-indica), and Agave salmiana.
