Since its founding in 1853, Monmouth College has admitted women into its programs on an equal basis to men. This and other innovations were to become instrumental in Monmouth College becoming the birthplace of the modern sorority movement with the founding of both Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Kappa Gamma, together known as The Monmouth Duo.

The Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi, founded at Monmouth College in 1867 and the world's oldest national women's fraternity (aka sorority), is housed in this residence and meeting place built in 2015.

In 2015, Niche College Ranking gave Monmouth College an A- rating for its high quality Greek (fraternity and sorority) housing.
