“Talking Wall”, by Bernard Williams is a large, painted, steel sculpture created in 2015 and installed on the IUPUI campus shortly after. The sculpture was created with the intention to act as an “open-ended conversation about the African-American history of Indianapolis.” Well-known, historical figures from Indianapolis’s African American community are represented using individual symbols, and patterns from traditional, African arts adorn the sculpture.
