A historical marker was placed to mark the original site of the Jones Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church.
The church, named in honor of the Right Reverend Singleton T. Jones, is the fourth oldest African American church in Indianapolis. Organized in 1872, the church moved to this location in 1920 and remained here until a fire destroyed the building in 1965.
