        The marker's narrative recognizes various moments in the nursing history of Indiana. Mentioned occasions include: the opening of the first general hospital in Indiana; the opening of the Flower Mission Training School for Nurses, Indiana's oldest school of nursing; and the subsequent start of professional nursing in Indiana.
