A historical marker was placed to mark the original site of the Indianapolis Brewing Company.

In 1868, Casper Maus built the Maus Brewery on this site. In 1887, the brewery merged with both the C.F. Schmidt and P. Lieber Breweries to form the Indianapolis Brewing Company. Their Dusseldorfer beer won multiple top prize awards at expositions in the early 1900's. Unfortunately, the business closed in the 1940's after the president of the company was jailed for short-filling bottles.
