A historical marker was placed to mark the original site of The College Inn.

The College Inn was a popular restaurant on the IUPUI campus. It was opened in 1931 by Louis Mazzini, a faculty member of the School of Medicine. It was frequented by students, faculty, and staff; it was so popular that one class funded the construction of a sidewalk between the Dental School building and the restaurant, and another class paid to connect the School of Dentistry’s paging system into the inn.

Bea Gordon (pictured), an honorary alumna, was chosen as the manager of the inn in 1969.

After Mazzini’s death in 1973, his widow gifted the land to Indiana University which eventually razed the building in 1975 for development of the campus.
