A historical marker was placed to mark the original Robert W. Long Hospital building.

The Robert W. Long Hospital was designed by the Robert P. Daggett architectural firm and built in 1914. The hospital was named for physician Robert Long, who, along with his wife, gifted Indiana University the funds to construct the first teaching hospital for the university.

The hospital became the first building on IU's medical campus and a key structure to the future development of the IU School of Medicine and the IUPUI campus.

Now known as [Robert W.] Long Hall, the building was converted into classrooms, clinics, and laboratories in 1970 after the completion of University Hospital.
