      CAMPUS CENTER

       

      The IUPUI Campus Center is the hub of student life. It is home to the IUPUI Division of Student Life.

       

      IUPUI offers a dynamic student life experience. The Division of Student Life provides student centered services, consulting, facilities, learning experiences and programs for students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community. A key office within the Division of Student Life is the Office of Student Involvement, which oversees 20 fraternities and sororities and 350+ student organizations.

       

      The Campus Center is also home to IUPUI Undergraduate Admissions; the Office of Student Scholarships; the Office of Student Financial Services; the Office of the Registrar; Campus Card Services and Campus Center Student Health.

       

      The Campus Center also features Citizens Commons Food Court; the Barnes & Noble Bookstore; Indiana Members Credit Union; the Cultural Arts Gallery; the Game Room and a state of the art Theater; meeting rooms and lounge areas and much, much more!!

       

    2. Liberal Arts

      LIBERAL ARTS

       

      IUPUI’s School of Liberal Arts teaches many of the skills employers want most: critical thinking, effective communication, understanding how the world and society work.

       

      You get this from fields like economics, international studies, foreign languages, journalism, political science, history, museum studies, and other humanities and social science subjects.

       

      The school is great not only for majors, but also for people who want to benefit more from degrees in business, science, public affairs or education. Even if you opt for another school at IUPUI, you can really set yourself apart in the workplace with a complimentary major or minor in a Liberal Arts discipline.

       

      The liberal arts make you a better employee, and a more informed member of society. The school’s informal motto is that the “liberal arts works” and the advisors here would welcome the chance to tell you how they can work for you.

       

    3. Taylor Hall

      Here at IUPUI, we are nationally recognized for our first year experience, service learning and learning communities. A key component in this national recognition is University College.

       

      Most of our students will begin their academic preparations at University College. Essentially, University College helps students make the transition into college and sets them up to successfully transition into their major.

       

      University College offers student orientation; academic and career advising; first year seminars; themed learning communities; mentoring/tutoring; a Multicultural Center; an Office of Student Employment and other student related services.

      IU SCHOOL OF PUBLIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS

       

      Students at IUPUI’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) major in making a difference!  SPEA offers 7 majors that prepare students to work in nonprofit/for-profit, government, policy and law enforcement/public safety type jobs.

       

      SPEA graduates lead the organizations that make and enforce laws, keep communities livable and safe, shape smart public policy, protect the planet, and help our fellow citizens.

    5. Engineering and Technology

      PURDUE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

       

      Students here have access to the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, which has been recognized as one of the best undergraduate and graduate engineering schools in the nation, and hands on opportunities on campus and in Indianapolis.

       

      Students here have access to degree programs such as Motorsports Engineering, Energy Engineering and Computer Engineering, just to name a few.

       

      IUPUI is the first and only school in North America to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Motorsports Engineering. With our Motorsports Engineering program, students get the opportunity to take Purdue University engineering courses, gain hands on experience through on campus resources such as the Motorsports Engineering Lab, and take advantage of real life motorsports experience in the heart of the racing capital of the world.

       

      IUPUI is one of a few schools in the nation to offer a degree in Energy Engineering. A key resource for our students is the Richard G. Lugar Center for Renewable Energy, which promotes research excellence in areas of renewable energy.

       

    6. Science

      PURDUE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

       

      At the School of Science, students are exposed to opportunities that no other school in the state of Indiana can offer. Committed to having real impact in their work and community, School of Science graduates emerge as well-rounded scientists whose experiences have prepared them to solve the problems of the future.

       

      Students receive one-on-one access to professors for learning opportunities as well as a vast network of resources including academic support, science-focused residential communities, career preparation, and hundreds of student organizations across campus.

       

      As early as the first year, undergraduate researchers receive financial support, gain access to advanced lab and enjoy the opportunity to work with renowned faculty.

       

      Students graduating from the School of Science go on to work in exciting organizations and gain acceptance to top professional schools and graduate programs across the country.

       

    7. Library

      LIBRARY

       

      University Library is one of the most technologically sophisticated libraries in North America.

       

      University Library contains over 2 million resources, including books, periodicals, journals and much more. Student here have access to IUCAT. IUCAT is an Indiana University online library, which pools all of the IU libraries statewide.

       

      Students here also have access to computer stations; workstations; high tech study spaces; the University Writing Center and the Payton Philanthropic Studies Library, which is the largest philanthropic library in the nation.

      • Admission/Scholarship opportunities for incoming freshman: All Honors Scholarships are competitive scholarships, including the Chancellor’s, Bepko, Plater and Herbert Presidential.  In addition to applying to IUPUI, a separate application with letters of recommendation and an essay are to be received by November 15th to be considered.  Honors Scholars also receive a $2,500 study abroad scholarship. 
      • Housing:  Honors housing helps create a close knit community of Honors Scholars.   IUPUI Honors College has two residential learning communities: University Tower for Freshmen and the Honors Community for upperclassmen in the River Walk Apartments.  Both offer special study and activity spaces for students, as well as programming for high ability scholars.  Students living in the Campus Apartments on the Riverwalk are able to become a member of the residential-based Honors House Council, one of the many opportunities for leadership experience that the Honors College provides for its scholars. 
      • The IUPUI Honors College space offers easy access to Honors Advisors and superior computer technology for students—both for individual and collaborative use. The space is reserved for Honors Scholars.
      • Special advising for Honors Scholars:  Each Scholar has an Honors Advisor who works with them to identify personal and academic goals—including research, internships, leadership and study abroad--and offer resources and support to achieve those goals.
      • Honors Scholar programming for student success includes student organizations, events—such as networking fairs and speakers--study abroad opportunities to Costa Rica and Swaziland, and other activities oriented toward high ability students. Programming takes advantage of IUPUI resources as well as its urban environment.
    8. Informatics and Communication Technology Complex

      IU SCHOOL OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING

       

      As the first school of its kind in the United States, the IU School of Informatics and Computing is an innovator in a fast-paced and dynamic field.

       

      Informatics is the study and application of information technology to the arts, science and professions, and to its use in organizations and society at large.

       

      Our school uniquely integrates computing, social science and information systems design to explore how people use computing and technology to live, work, play and communicate. We then apply that insight to develop innovative IT solutions impacting fields like healthcare, biology, business, law, entertainment and media.

       

      With nearly 2,000 students currently studying informatics on IU campuses, top-notch programs and highly-regarded faculty, the School of Informatics and Computing is dedicated to preparing students for the power and possibility of computing and information technology.

       

      The IU School of Informatics and Computing offers degree programs such as Informatics, Health Information Management and Media Arts and Science.

       

      The IU School of Informatics and Computing is the first institution to participate in Gen Con’s Educational Partners Program. This partnership gives students and faculty access to key members of the gaming industry and also allows them to participate in educational, informative seminars.

       

    9. Eskenazi Hall

      HERRON SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN

       

      Eskenazi Hall is a state-of-the-art building that was specifically designed to meet the needs of visual art students and faculty.

       

      Herron School of Art and Design is the only professional art and design school in the state of Indiana. Being a part of an urban campus overlooking the 13th largest city in the country means that Herron students have access to opportunities throughout the Indianapolis arts community. Faculty are all practicing artists, designers, and scholars. Herron students create a wide range of artwork and focus on building a portfolio that showcases their talent as individual artists.

       

      Famous alumnus includes Norman Bridwell, creator of Clifford the Big Red Dog and Bill Peet, storyman for Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.

    10. Education/Social Work Building

      IU SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

       

      Students here have access to the nationally recognized IU School of Education. The IU School of Education houses the Learning to Teach/Teaching to Learn program. This is a cutting edge program that is designed to prepare new teachers for diverse schools of the 21st century. This program features flexible scheduling, cohort groups and student teaching experience within Marion County schools.

       

      IU SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK

       

      The IU School of Social Work is over 100 years old. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work and a certificate, minor, and bachelors in Labor Studies. Social Work requires a professional degree and students learn how to use theory and basic practice skills to help clients problem solve and create interventions for change. 

       

    11. Office of International Affairs

      OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

       

      The Office of International Affairs is the place for everything international at IUPUI -  not just for international students. IUPUI strives to give all students an international experience. More than 140 countries are represented in the IUPUI student body and international students receive services here.

       

      The Office of International Affairs also coordinates international programs and events on campus for all students such as:

      • Weekly “Culture Hours” at the Campus Center where students present about their home country and enjoy free ethnic food
      • Annual International Festival
      • International House – a themed learning community where students from ~20 countries (including the United States) live together

      International Peer Mentoring Program where American and international students receive mentoring training and a scholarship to support new international students arriving on campus.

       

      Hallway art and furniture was designed by Herron School of Art students to represent IUPUI’s global community. The wood benches were handmade and the ceiling art pieces include stories of IUPUI students in multiple languages.

       

      The international office also has a state of the art videoconferencing facility where you can share a virtual classroom with students around the world. 

       

    12. University Hall

      UNIVERSITY HALL

       

      University Hall is home to the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and a significant portion of the IU School of Social Work. University Hall is also home to IUPUI Administration, including the Office of the IUPUI Chancellor and the Office of the IU President (when the President is on the IUPUI campus).

       

      The IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is the first school of its kind in the world. Philanthropy is all the ways people give their time, talent & treasure to make the world a better place. It deals with volunteering and charitable giving and organizations that support and depend on the giving of time, talent and treasure in society. 

       

    13. Physical Education and Tourism Management/Natatorium

      IU SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT

       

      All students in the school complete a required internship or student teaching experience as part of their degree.

       

      Students in the Department of Kinesiology have the opportunity to pursue degrees in Exercise Science, Fitness Management and Personal Training, and Physical Education Teacher Education. In addition, students gain valuable real life/hands on experiences through service learning and class-based experiences, undergraduate research opportunities, school and community based programming, semester-long internships / student teaching, and a leadership camp. As a result of the multiple hands-on experiences, stellar academics, excellent faculty, and the location of IUPUI, our students are guided toward great careers, such as a physical therapist, fitness entrepreneur, physical education teacher, doctor, and occupational therapist.

       

      Students in the Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management (TCEM) have the opportunity to pursue degrees in Sports Management and Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management. They have the unique experience of pursuing their degrees in a world class sports, events and tourism city. Indianapolis, also known as the Crossroads of America, is name to many professional sports franchises; the Indiana Convention Center; the Children’s Museum; and hosts many national and international business, sports and cultural events.  Events such as the 2012 Super Bowl; NCAA Final Four; and Indianapolis 500 (the largest single day sporting events in the world); major conventions such an GenCon; National FFA; and Black Expo; and world class festivals throughout the summer and fall in White River State Park offer TCEM students incredible volunteer and paid experiences.  With all of the real life and academic experiences the TCEM students gain they are guided towards great careers, such as event planners, sports marketing and advertising, facility managers, sports team executives, and tourism marketing directors.

       

      INDIANA UNIVERSITY NATATORIUM

       

      The Physical Education/Natatorium Building is home to the Indiana University Natatorium, the nation’s largest indoor aquatics facility and the number one must visit site for a swim meet in the nation. The Indiana University Natatorium serves as the home of the IUPUI men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.

      The Indiana University Natatorium features an Olympic size competition pool; instructional pool; a diving well and pro shop. The facility has hosted US Olympic Trials; the 1987 Pan American Games; USA Swimming National Championships and NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The Indiana University Natatorium will host the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in diving.

      Famous athletes that have competed here include Michael Phelps, Greg Louganis and Dana Torres. There have been 104 American records and 15 world records set in the pool.
