    1. PCH (Pacific Coast Highway)

Take a scenic drive down ICONIC Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Named an All American Road, PCH is one of the most scenic and picturesque stretches of road in the United States and the world. Its spectacular vistas of high cliffs, blue ocean waves, secluded beaches and long bridges make it a perfect destination for road trippers. PCH opened in the late 1920s as part of the Roosevelt Highway, a 1,400-mile road that traced the western margin of the United States. Nationally, Americans found the first highway linking the Mexican and Canadian borders an appropriate memorial for the country's late and famously internationalist president, Theodore Roosevelt. Locally, Southern Californians celebrated the reduced travel time between the various beach towns; the Roosevelt Highway represented the first direct link between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach and between Ventura and Santa Monica. Stretching over 650 miles along California's Pacific Coastline, Highway 1 has several portions designated as either Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), Cabrillo Highway, Shoreline Highway, or Coast Highway. Its most southern point is at Interstate 5 (I-5) near Dana Point in Orange County and its northern point is at U.S. Highway 101 (US 101) near Leggett in Mendocino County.
