MedStar Georgetown University Hospital has become a national and international destination—more and more patients entrust us with their care. But our facility is aging. It’s time to modernize.
We have developed ambitious plans for a facility that will meet our needs today, tomorrow, and well into the future. Slated for completion in 2022, the estimated 477,000-square-foot medical/surgical pavilion will house:
- 56 private patient rooms
- 32 state-of-the-art operating rooms, including a new intraoperative MRI suite
- A new emergency department with 33 private rooms
- A rooftop helipad with direct access to the emergency department and operating rooms
- Three levels of underground parking
It will provide the optimal surgical and clinical environment to integrate the latest medical and technological advances—and to attract the best students, researchers, physicians, and nurses. Expanding our footprint, meanwhile, will allow us to enhance our presence as a leader in cancer, transplant, orthopaedics, neurosciences, and surgical disciplines.
